What processes will Grinding Force go through?
We usually follow a four-stage process that includes these steps:
Clean the floor surface: Sweep and clean the floor to remove dirt, dust, and debris. Remove floor bolts & fixings: Any metal intrusions (from secured shelving for example) must be cut out.
Remove glues and adhesives: Use chemicals, power washing, or baking soda to remove paint, latex, and adhesives
Fill holes and level bumps: Fill any holes and level any raised bumps
Remove Top Layer: Use a commercial diamond grinding machine to take down the top-most layer of concrete, leaving a fresh, smooth surface. Coarse grades are used first, then progressing to finer pads to finish.
Dust Removal: Use an industrial vacuum cleaner to ensure the concrete surface is dust-free before applying any coatings.
A sealing solution is added during and after grinding to fill up any small holes, and a densifier solution is added to strengthen the concrete and make it impermeable.
Level: Level the concrete
Honing: Use finer abrasives to hone the concrete
Polish: Use finer abrasives to polish the concrete to achieve the desired gloss level
The desired gloss level is defined by the industry as a number from 1–4, with 1 being a matte finish and 4 being a high gloss.
How Much Does Concrete Grinding Cost?
The cost of your job will vary depending on a variety of factors, primarily:
- The condition of the floor – smooth floors that require little preparation are going to cost less than cracked floors that are covered in old paint and adhesives.
- The size of the floor – larger pieces of work will cost more in total, but efficiency gains will mean the cost per square metre will be lower
